Brooklyn Unity Fest

Background
Brooklyn Unity Fest, a vibrant community event celebrating diversity and local culture in New York, needed a creative visual centerpiece to guide attendees through the festival’s multiple locations. They wanted something that was not only informative but also captured the unique spirit of Brooklyn — bold, artistic, and full of energy.
Core problem
The event lacked a clear, engaging way to communicate the festival’s layout. Traditional static maps felt generic and failed to reflect the character of the neighborhoods or the energy of the event. Organizers needed a visually striking map that could also be adapted into an interactive, animated experience for digital platforms.

Research & Discovery
I began by studying Brooklyn landmarks, festival routes, and the cultural identity of the neighborhoods involved. This research shaped the tone, color palette, and illustrative style, ensuring the design resonated with both locals and visitors.
Design & Development
Custom 2D Illustration: Created a hand-crafted illustrated map that highlighted each event location with personality and charm.
Visual Storytelling: Integrated local architecture, street details, and vibrant colors to reflect Brooklyn’s diversity.
Interactive Animated Version: Developed a digital, animated map for web use, allowing users to explore the festival layout in an engaging, playful way.
Optimized Usability: Ensured both the print and digital versions were clear, legible, and accessible.
